I wonder how those missions on DS9 such as “Boldly they Rode” will play out with this new configuration? I’ll have to replay it with the Admiral and find out if the “new” DS9 is used or the old one. Graphically it looks much better and perhaps even more important, it looks much closer to the actual DS9 from the show. It is long overdue as the original DS9 dates back to the start of the game. One of the first things you will notice, especially if you start playing the new missions, is the complete and total revamp of DS9. The freebie ship was equipped with Mark XII purple gear including the Jem’Hadar space set. My character came fully equipped with the Jem’Hadar ground set that is a mission reward for other characters. Cryptic also gave me Tier 5 status in Omega Force Reputation so I have access to that entire rep set and store. The Jem’Hadar character not only starts out at level sixty, but Cryptic also maxes out two specialization trees, I got Intel and Command, by default. The Jem’Hadar C-store ships become account wide unlocks after the Jem’Hadar character maxes out the ship’s Mastery Tiers. Yep I bought ANOTHER raider, what can I say, I must have some Klingon blood in my veins 😉 I actually flew that ship for my missions and will review it in a future post. I also purchased a Jem’Hadar Vanguard Heavy Raider. I’ll do a comparison of the two ships in a future post.

Also the ‘baby bug’ is only available to Jem’Hadar characters. But the turn rate, shield modifier, inertia and other basic specs are in line with the billionaire’s baby Jem’Bug. The ship is also set up a bit more neutral with a 4T 4E 3S console layout instead of the Jem’Bug’s more aggressive, 5T 4E 2S layout. There are no universal chairs, no special console, and no access to the special Jem’Bug pets. Now before you all freak out, especially those of you that paid a king’s ransom for the Jem’Bug on the exchange, this is a slightly detuned version.

I got the free escort ship which to my gleeful delight, was a Jem’Bug! Yes you can get a Jem’Hadar Attack Ship. I chose a tactical path and the system set me up with a basic tactical skills setup, which I reset with the free retrain token they offered to suit my play style. As you may have read, the Jem’Hadar character begins at level 60. You of course can use the character slot for what ever you want, I recommend trying a Jem’Hadar out. As they have done in the past, we get a free character slot so everyone has a chance to set up a new Ketracel White sucking character at no charge. I played a bit on Tuesday, setting up my Jem’Hadar player. Things clear up nicely as the evening wears on and the Atlantic coast nods off to sleep. As is typical the servers were clogged up with everyone logging in to peak at the new content and I got ejected several times while playing.

Tuesday, the Victory is Life expansion launched, and it is an expansion, it’s not as big as the Legacy of Romulus, but still an expansion. I’ll say right up front that I like this new line of missions. I’m tired and groggy as I stayed up a bit too late last night playing through the entire set of new missions with the Admiral.
